Follow-up Comment #46, patch #9980 (project octave): Thanks, I'll try your suggestion this weekend on the JSON files in my browser's profile subdir. I wouldn't know how to provoke another regexprep error than encoding stuff so that I can test the "else" clause, but just let me think about it. BTW I'm with you about the need for clear and useful error messages.
