I hope there are other people on this list by now :)
I'm trying to run MySQL in a VS, but keep getting this error:
011207 12:37:04 mysqld started
011207 12:37:04 Can't start server : Bind on unix socket: Permission
denied
011207 12:37:04 Do you already have another mysqld server running on
socket: /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock ?
011207 12:37:04 Aborting
011207 12:37:04 mysqld ended
(from the mysql.log)
This is using the following packages:
freevsd-1.4.9-2rh7.i386.rpm
freevsd-pkgs-1.4.9-2rh7.i686.rpm
mysql-3.23.36-1.i386.rpm
mysqlclient9-3.23.22-4.i386.rpm
mysql-devel-3.23.36-1.i386.rpm
mysql-server-3.23.36-1.i386.rpm
I'm using Red Hat linux 7.1 with kernel 2.4.2-2smp. The skel is one I
generated using the "vsd-genskel.pl" script. AFAIK, all relevant
directories were generated correctly, and there is a "mysql" user and
group on the VS. There is no other mysql server running on the host, and I
invoked the VS's mysql with:
/usr/bin/safe_mysqld --defaults-file=/etc/my.cnf --bind-address=a.b.c.d
where a.b.c.d is the IP of the virtual server. Any ideas what's going on?
TIA,
--
