Installing all 0.50.x packages in /usr/local involves some hassle,
having to create a few symlinks (or possibly environment variables).
I found that installing just the aspell-0.50.x RPM on /usr/local, but
not the libraries and the dictionary, works fine, without conflicting
with aspell-0.33.x:
rpm -ivh libaspell15-0.50.3-1mdk.i586.rpm
rpm -ivh --badreloc --relocate /usr/=/usr/local/ aspell-0.50.3-1mdk.i586.rpm
rpm -ivh aspell-en-0.50.2-1mdk.i586.rpm
aspell/libaspell10 0.33.7.1 and pspell/libpspell4 0.12.2 were already
present.
This way I've got both Pan, using the old aspell/pspell, and Sylpheed
Claws, using the new aspell, working with spell checking.
I suppose the new aspell should work with Pan if gtkspell is recompiled
against it, since the new aspell includes a pspell library for
compatibility reasons.
