Hello,
Could somebody please explain what is the rationale behind Pan's "watch
thread" feature?
As a former user of Forte Agent, I thought the purpose of the watch feature is
to automatically download bodies from the watched thread, while continuing to
download only the headers from the other threads.
In my experience, I choose to download only the headers for most groups. But
very often I find a thread which is particularly interesting, and want to
tell Pan to automatically download BODIES for the FUTURE followups of that
thread----while continuing to download only the headers for the other
threads.
Of course, the watch feature is useless if at least one of those conditions is
true:
1) you have a permanent connection to the internet (online reading);
2) you read offline, but you usually download bodies for all new messages.
Unfortunately, none of these conditions are true for me, thus I need the watch
feature.
Now, the problem is that in my tests the watch feature didn't always seem to
work as I illustrated. Sometimes it downloads bodies, sometimes not, and I
can't understand the logic.
Maybe it downloads bodies only if I am the author, or if I posted at least
once on that thread?
Would somone please tell me the precise behavior of the program? :-)
Thank you very much,
Maurizio Colucci
