I've noticed this too, only I'm using a lot slower hardware :) AMD
K6-350 and Intel P3-1000 laptop....

AFAIK you can sometimes wait untill the end of the world, but just
quitting pan, restarting pan and loading the group displays sorted
results in a few seconds... maybe a hang-bug there...

Only on the busier groups (40000+ new headers)
