This is a known issue. There's a bugzilla filing on it, and it's been
mentioned here in the group b4. I expect PAN will at some point be able to
handle it properly on its own, as it does yEnc, but don't know when, other
than post 0.14.0, which is in code freeze except for bug fixes and should be
released shortly.
As always, a good way to ensure it gets a speedy fix is to contribute a patch,
but you did mention that isn't your area of expertise, so.. (FWIW, it isn't
mine, either, but I do try to help out where I can on the lists, as in here.)
