The first is easy: Learn to quote!
- Don't top post!
- Only quote the parts you're replying to.
- When replying to several parts of an article, split the quotes, and
reply below each quote.
If the reader has to scroll down to start reading your reply, you're
either quoting to much, or not splitting the quote. (Or the reader
has enabled viewing all headers, but that's his problem...)

The > 80 char line length warnings should only be a problem when
posting long URLs, and in a few special cases like posting source
code. In other cases, you should rewrap the article; this also
works on quotes (unless there's a change in the latest betas I
haven't noticed yet).
But it could be nice if Pan detected and ignored long URLs before
displaying this warning. Is there a Bugzilla request on this that
I have overlooked?
