<sigh> The problem with early reports is that the fix is often
clear -- but only after a bit of sweat.
My problem was that I had some older packages on my gentoo system
that were linked against libstdc++.so.5, while anything compiled
recently (like pan) gets linked against libstdc++.so.6 because of
a recent gcc upgrade. I have no idea why 0.103 didn't suffer the
same crashes, but obviously it didn't.
At the moment, 0.104 is sailing along with no problems :o)
