I set the 30 limit back when Astraweb was my pay news server.
It took that many connections to get full speed downloads.

My ISP server is limited to 20 connections.  That many let me
download at the full 100Mb/s.  Less connections is less speed.

My newer and more reliable than Astraweb pay server offers
various plans and I decided the most economical for me was an
unlimited annual plan with a 50Mb/s speed limit.  That takes 10
connections to get full speed.  Well, 6-10 depending on the
time of day and/or week :-)
