Thanks, but it's a vendor supplied version of php. ie. not my job.
For those people interested in whether I managed to make some bizarre
cock-up (plausible[1], but unlikely) or whether a certain distro has

[1] I'm only human, but how much can you get wrong with 'rpm -Uvh
php*rpm' or 'up2date php' ?
