If you suspect IMAP is actually compiled in as it is supposed to be, try the following to be sure. Make a .php file with <?php phpinfo() ?> as the only thing in it. Access that file in a web browser and look through it to see if IMAP has been compiled in. My money's betting you don't have IMAP compiled in.

Thanks, but it's a vendor supplied version of php. ie. not my job.

For those people interested in whether I managed to make some bizarre

[1] I'm only human, but how much can you get wrong with 'rpm -Uvh
php*rpm' or 'up2date php' ?
