With respect I think you are mistaken, and in fact forgot to bootstrap.
I have just checked again on a fresh clone, in sub-package mode, and
everything works for me.
The two examples within example-build-systems/ in the Jitter source
directory are built with Jitter in sub-package mode and should behave
more or less like poke.
cd JITTER-SOURCE-DIRECTORY/example-build-systems
./bootstrap
cd structured-with-library/
./configure && make distcheck
Can you please try again? If this is a real bug I am very curious now.
