[Ruqueue-user] Install Issue

I just installed ruQueue and all is running. However, I could not get the "modify session salt with MySQL" to work properly. I opened a mysql> and then selected the database then at the next prompt typed in update system_variables set val='new salt' where var='session_salt';

 

The resulting error indicates my SQl syntax is wrong. I am running MySQL 4.1.2. Any help would be appreciated.
