It's a random bug in the DB libraries. You can try a shortcut to 
rebuilding the PTree database:

stop sks
cd to sks home dir
cd PTree
db_recover
cd ..
sks cleandb
start sks

when my database was corrupted most recently, that's how I fixed it.
