I can't speak specifically to your problem, but I've been running stumpwm in natty for a while now, and I had to compile sbcl from source to get multithreading to work.  If you ever decide to integrate stumpwm with emacs in a live way you'll need sbcl with multithreading.  I would suggest following the arch instructions for building stumpwm with sbcl:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Stumpwm

after you recompile sbcl with multithreading support.  This bug is documented elsewhere. I know I posted instructions on the mailing list a while ago too.

If you must stick with clisp, I'm not sure how to help, sorry.  I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Hi all,

I have been using stumpwm for a couple of weeks on Ubuntu Natty and I
really like it.  I'm not much of a mouse fan and I like to concentrate
on what I am doing instead of being distracted by lots of useless eye
candy.  Yesterday I upgraded clisp from 1:2.48-3 to 1:2-49-8~natty0 and
stumpwm stopped working.  It seems to be something to do with it not
finding a package called "CLC", but I have only just started learning
common lisp and I don't know enough about the system to fix it.
Downgrading to the old version got it working but I would like some idea
of why it went wrong and what to do to fix it.

Thanks

Bernard
