Thanks for getting a backtrace!

It looks like you've defined a placement rule for your floating group.
Floating groups don't have frames. So it crashed. If you remove that
(define-frame-preference ...) line does it still crash? if that fixes
it can you file a bug report on the stumpwm project page?
