Dear O G,
 Can you describe more in detail the situation in which typically you 
experience slowdowns?
I use TeXmacs everyday (on Mac) and I, nor people around me, experience 
response times which are felt slow.
That is not to say that things cannot be improved, but it is not a problem 
reported very often and it would help to clarify what exactly is the problem.
