[Vrs-development] DGEE Pre Release

Okay - Brace yourselves.

This is an experiment to see if people can build all the kit necessary.
Included in the tarball is phlib and goldwater, the two base components 
required for the DGEE so you don't need to download them. They are more 
recent versions than available on my website as I've not had time to upload 
new ones separately yet.

You'll need expat and gnu readline header files to compile goldwater.  See 
the download page on http://www.nfluid.com for more information.  Goldwater 
should now work with readline versions prior to 4.2a - in line with pnet.

You'll also require a recent (CVS) version of pnet and pnetlib as DGEE relies 
on some newish additions (the installation of libffi and libgc).

Apache is a must, and the DGEE comes with a special module mod_dgee.so (you 
can build your own if you've got the Apache apxs tool available - PREFERRED!) 
or use the mod_dgee.so that I compiled against apache_1.3.xx.

Webservices work with XMLRPC requests at the moment, but DO NOT support 
arrays or structs. 

C# client support is missing (working on that now) but there is an example 
Perl script that uses XMLRPC::Lite to prove that the DGEE works.

Following the QUICKSTART guide in the dgee tarball takes you through the 
whole installation (remember the prerequisites above).  Any problems, refer 
to the README, INSTALL and website.

I expect things not to go smoothly on Cygwin or os X etc - best stick to 
standard un*x variants.

We're ramping up to the Jan3-4 date, so some trials and feedback will be 
appreciated.  Having someone set this with some example webservices on a 
publicly accessable box in time for next weekend would be really cool too!
Have a look in the examples directory to see how webservices are written.
