That's one of the things I worry about-- other operating systems.  The 
other is that because this manifests itself only using Compiz, there is 
a very real possibility that the bug is in compiz and not the way we link.

I went over to the compiz dev IRC channel to mention this issue without 
success.  I figure I did what I could to try to point out a compiz bug, 
and if the devs don't care to listen, I'm not going to waste more of my 
time on it.  I'm pretty convinced it IS in fact a compiz bug that it 
can't handle this situation as well as metacity.  I guess it'd be worth 
seeing what other window managers do as well though.  But again, we've 
worked around the problem, and if it happens to be a compiz bug, well, 
we've done what we can to alert them.
