Just copy the README .... as long as it is OK with the Debian guidlines.

Hmmm, it seems to be irrelevant event to Xnee :(

I think that the copyright file reflects the author of the packaging code?
If so, then the copyright is yours.

If not, I'd think you should write
 Copyright (C) 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 Henrik

I will check the errors asap.... think they are already solved locally
(which is very easy to say since you can't check it ;)
