It would be
<automake-bin> --add-missing --gnu --copy
where <automake-bin> would be either 'automake' or 'automake-1.6',
depending on your distro and the different versions of automake you have
installed. Just make sure it *is* automake version 1.6, whatever name
the binary has. (The differing names is where all these troubles come
from, actually)
