Gnash only supported AVM1, which was the standard at that time.
Unfortunately we never managed to get a real start on AVM2 as it'd be a
big, full-time project, and interest in Flash was dying quickly thanks
to Apple. Funding dried up mostly because of this lack of interest.

Something like that. I think most of the developers have gone on to
other projects, myself included, but you never know...

We no longer have the non-profit that was raising funds for Gnash, and
I don't want any donations by accident to my paypal account. If for some
weird reason there was funding for a reinvigorated Gnash, I'd set things
up differently this time as far as how the money would be handled. I
don't feel like running a non-profit anymore and having to raise all the
funding. :-) I'd rather just write software.

Maybe in a week or so, since I'm currently setting up my new home
server, which has the backup on it, plus a mirror of the last wayback
machine copy. Once I get this going, maybe I'll make another shot at
restoring the backups, or run an older Centos in docker.
