Let me know if this works. I've overhauled configure.ac to avoid
vasprintf.c and strrstr.c always being compiled, and made a few other
changes to remove irrlevant bits of configure.ac.
There are no code changes in this beta.
If everything looks OK, I intend to put out 2.0 next Monday. I'm sure
there are more bugs, but I can't wait for them forever!
