LYNX-DEV color styles and solaris

The color styles and the develop-solaris-ncurses target I posted 
earlier seems to work fine (over an rlogin) with the Linux console, 
ncurses 1.9.9g, ncurses' terminfo database, and SunOS 5.5(.1).  I'm 
not sure what's necessary to get color support in an xterm (on 
any platform), would appreciate being clued in there if I'm missing
something else.
