going through this today - the script finds the BSD curses library,
not the ncurses library.  Apparently you have installed libncurses.a,
and kept the libcurses.a (or .so).  But the headers in /usr/include
are for ncurses.  You can make the configure script do the right thing
by using the configure option --with-screen=ncurses.
