I got around the problem in the end by just using alien on the .10 rpm off
the website.
it seems to work nicely and now i have all my systems running on 0.10.
if that was a bad idea, please let me know  :)

Simple, but nice idea. I'm no debian guru, but I don't think that this breaks anything. And better than editing some internal stuff, I admit.

I can supply the deb i made if you mail me off list.

Thanks, but I finally installed 0.11.0 from source. I needed the .11 because of the --include-globbing-filelist parameter.
