The latest gettext (0.10.39) has the annoying habit of appending
the following text to po/ChangeLog when gettextize is invoked:
>2001-10-04 gettextize <address@hidden>
>
> * Makefile.in.in: Upgrade to gettext-0.10.39.
This might be appropriate if updating a "standalone" source tree,
but when using CVS, it is very annoying. "autogen.sh" scripts
run gettextize *every* *time* they run, filling po/ChangeLog with
spam. This is completely unnecessary, there should at the very
least be an option to disable it.
On a related note, I find the requirement for po/ChangeLog very
annoying. All our changes are kept in a ChangeLog generated
from CVS logs, so it is not needed, but po/Makefile.in.in insists
on its presence. What would be more acceptable (to me) would be
to distribute it only if it is present, so that it is effectively
optional.
Regards,
Roger
