Exactly which changes are you talking about?  As far as I can
tell, the default values of $(datadir) and $(libexecdir) have
not changed, so packages are still installing their files in the
same place, and installers can still relocate these with
--datadir and --libexecdir as they always did.

The changes we are discussing presently attempt to promote some
sane uses of subdirectories in these two directories.  I can't
see how making such suggestions will make it harder to predict
where data files and subprograms end up.
