The MIME types are associated directly by the plugin. A function
exported by the plugin is called immediately when the browser starts and
it registers its MIME types on the browser. I don't know if there is a
way to force this mechanism. In any case something is wrong with the
plugin if it is not loaded well.

The only way I know to get information about plugins at run-time is the
about:plugins page and you already used it. Let's hope for the new file
I uploaded, in case I'll try to figure out a new solution.
