Please stop taking extreme views. Because GRUB is not vaporware, we
need to compromise in some degree. For example, we'd be happy to add
workarounds for buggy BIOSes, if possible.

Neal is right, but using autoconf doesn't mean that we should support
every kind of operating system. To make software good, some
assumptions are required, anyway. Even if using autoconf, aren't you
able to manage tremendously broken systems sanely? Such a system can
be built quite easily, when making a new system from scratch.

So we must judge if we should compromise or not, on a case-by-case
basis.
