No.  My point is that your original statement is invalid: we do not
"just" support systems which conform to the Single Unix Specification
nor do we assume that "standard programs" such as echo and touch work
in any expected fashion by default.

As for adding a working around for this system, I am indifferent: you
are the maintainer.
