IMO this mixes "musical meaning" with "graphical output" too much.
I don't like the idea of including stuff like
\clef treble
\clef treble_from_2_14_0
\clef treble_from_2_12_0
I would prefer to use the \commands to indicate musical meaning,
and \override to alter the graphical output for a specific musical
meaning.
