Salmonella relies on -prefix to install eggs into a fresh local egg
repository.  That's how it is able to catch dependency problems, for
example.

I'm fine with dropping -prefix or even burying salmonella, as long as we
have a similar tool to test eggs.  I just can't think of a way to do
that at the moment, given the set of features planned for
chicken-install.  Ideas are welcome.
