I think that we need to write down a solid set of features that we want in the 
system so that we can all see what it is that we want, i.e. the auth system 
must be redundant, must have a resync feature, must have rollback ability, 
information must exist where the user wishes it to either locally or remotely, 
ect. 

once we have that we can discuss our options for a solution.
