i like your attitude. it got introduced pretty much with 0.6 and duplicity will 
probably work reliably for when you find a way to disable resuming, although 
you will end up with an error in that case. but at least it is a clear status 
quo. on the other hand a proper fix would be very much appreciated, even better 
if offered as a launchpad bzr branch.
