[gNewSense-users] hibernation (swapping) problem in yeeloong+gNS |

Dear freedom lovers,
I am running gNS on a 10.1'' Lemote Yeeloong:
uname -a:
Linux umut-yeeloong 2.6.32.11-libre1-lemote #1 PREEMPT Tue Apr 6
09:05:04 UTC 2010 mips64 GNU/Linux
My system seems not to be able to use the allocated swap space.
fstab reads (I set pri to 20000, without this option set it was -1 by default):
/dev/hda5 none swap sw,pri=20000 0 0
I have the following in kern.log:
Dec 7 16:29:10 umut-yeeloong kernel: [ 16.524000] Adding 2859504k
swap on /dev/hda5. Priority:20000 extents:1 across:2859504k
and
cat /proc/swaps gives:
Filename Type Size Used Priority
/dev/hda5 partition 2859504 0 20000
Despite all these, there are signs that swaping is not working:
Sign 1: `free' or `top' does not indicate non-zero swap usage even
under thight memory conditions.
Sign 2: When I try to hibernate with
echo disk > /sys/power/state
hibernation cannot succeed and I get the following kernel mesgs,
suggesting that the problem is with swapping (the line just before the
last):
Dec 7 16:08:46 umut-yeeloong kernel: [12031.320000] PM: Syncing

I would apreciate any suggestions on what could be the problem with swapping.
Please bear in mind that I am not a very ``deep'' user of GNU/Linux,
but am eager to learn.
All my best,
Umut Ozge
