Monserat Technology proudly presents the next generation of browsers for medical vocabularies: SmartBrowser 2.0 (currently in Beta testing at www.monserat.com/icd9cm.php)

SmartBrowser is a search engine that incorporates lexical tools to facilitate retrieval of medical concepts.  Future versions will include an expanded ontology to browse the medical terminology by associations. SmartBrowser also gives simple medical definitions obtained from the National Library of Medicine, so your coders will understand better the terminology.

SMARTBROWSER takes into account tense of verbs, plural vs. singular, spelling variants, equivalence from tour search criteria.  Check what happens when you search for “kidney failed”.  One of the first suggested terms is “renal failure” (http://www.monserat.com/icd9cm.php?level=3&term_id=105113&parent_id=105113&mode=0)

SMARTBROWSER will also provides for each ICD-9 term modifiers such as notes, includes (synonyms), excludes, required forth or fifth digit, code additional conditions or code first, if applicable.

We invite you to experience the new way to browse ICD-9-CM, for free, as an example of what you can do with SMARTBROWSER.  Please give us a feedback or suggestions to improve this technology.

Regards,
