BTW if -P hides empty directories, it will also hide any > directories established in advance to hold files once they aredeveloped.Bad practice IMO. By the time you'd be using the directories you'll be wanting to call them differently.
True. It's only that if people create a directory too hastily, it is irreversible, yes?
So maybe the point should be that once people develop something they wish to contribute, and if they are *tempted* to create a new directory, they should hold off briefly until posting to the list what they have in mind. That way, someone might say "oh, we already have a place for that" or "it would be better to instead"...
