Didn't think of this. A good point to consider.

Not really. We have document scan/index/view running on
Windows and Linux equally well (yes, including scan).

That would provide for a stronger base but likely hamper
deployment I suppose. Windows is likely to be OK (for the
clients - we would still strongly suggest a UNIX-like
(Linux or BSD) server !).
