Carlos,

I won't get time to test this further. The gentoo ebuild for 
mod_perl-1.99.11 is now installed. I added -D PERL to 
/etc/conf.d/apache2, which loads the /etc/apache2/modules.d/*mod_perl* 
config, loads the module, and runs 
/etc/apache2/conf/modules.d/apache2-mod-perl-startup. The loading 
doesn't work though because it can't find Apache/Server.pm.

I'm not sure why, it first does "use Apache2 ();" then use 
Apache::Server so it should work...

this exists: 
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.5/i686-linux/Apache2/Apache/Server.pm

and @INC:
(@INC contains: . . .  /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.5/i686-linux . . . )
