I can do that. I will still have it started as default because many people 
will not understand that it is not running by default,

Hmm, What do you mean by that. You would need to write a small program for 
that so the device can be chosen interactively. Or you would have to hardcode 
that.

I would have to take a look at xdialog. I am not sure how many people actually 
want a live CD and if there is any demand for it outside the usual suspects.
