Well for the sake of helping others who may be in the same position as I was and refer to this thread, I ended up editing my config file (gm-from-cvs.conf) and added:

[workplace]

name = GNUmed Default

BTW, there have been many improvements since last time I fired up gnumed. Good job to all involved.
