The placeholder will return literal strings only. However,
after placeholder had been replaced LaTeX will be run on a
LaTeX template so if the inserted literal does some LaTeX
magic that'll surely work.
What doesn't work just yet is having the literal contain
*other* placeholders and hope they'll get replaced.
