When that happens GNUmed shows information about the
problem. While that information can very likely be improved
not acting on what is displayed is a bug in the user which
cannot easily be fixed.

There is several problems with this approach.

- there is no way to safely screen for a PostgreSQL
  installation that I know of

- there is no way to connect to a running PostgreSQL
  instance to check for existence of a given database
  without knowing database credentials (or root credentials,
  on most UNIXen)

- bootstrapping the server will need root access -- or
  credentials -- anyway

People who cannot be bothered to learn what is needed can
always fall back to a method of testing which does not
require any installation (VM, etc). If they don't they
aren't interested.

However, technical suggestions as to how to achieve the
above can surely be given consideration.
