Ok. I did as you suggested. When I start a 1.4 client on windows 7, I get an 
option for connecting to web server. An option to connect to localhost is 
missing. I need to modify .conf file. Where is it located on windows? (I know 
location on linux ./gnumed/)

If your Postgresql was installed by gnumed-server then the passwords are 
preset. There are two passwords. One for postgres user and one for gm-dbo 
user. You don't need any during the upgrade unless you have changed them to 
something differen manually.

The upgrade procedure assumes they are left unchanged. If you upgrade and your 
passwords have changed then the log file will tell us so. (it gives an error).
