My regular user .pgpass contains
*:5432:*:gm-dbo:<password>
I run the bootstrapper from an unmodified copy of the git tree like this:
sudo ./upgrade-db.sh 18 19
which prompts me for my regular user pasword once.
My root .pgpass reads
localhost:5432:*:gm-dbo:<password>
My postgres regular system account does not have a .pgpass
but postgres can connect via IDENT (in pg_hba.conf).
