Actually, it's worse than that - it isn't guaranteed across compilation unit
boundaries even within the same binary.
Anyway, all of these problems would go away if we moved CoreBase inside -base,
which I thought we decided was a good idea about six months ago. Maybe after
the next release we can do that?
