That's it. I've tried both a plain "make" and a "make bootstrap", as 
well as my usual "make -j2 bootstrap".

The -j2 flag tells make to operate in parallel, i.e. run two compiles 
simultaneously. I always build that way on my dual-processor machines.

I'll try this in my Pentium 4 system once it is no longer busy with 
something else.
