Yup, that's what I meant by more transparent--I agree with your
method.

Not me (used point sizes in those ranges). It's hard to imagine
any real use for point sizes in those ranges, but perhaps I just
have insufficient imagination. Unless someone strongly objects
or can cite a reasonable application, I think your threshold of
300 is fine.
