I think it'd be good to be able to make the choice from the client as well. Maybe we could make it possible to start both gateways at the same time, in different ports, and even have links from one to another? Actually, simplest might be to instantiate two HTTPServer objects and at request handling see which port was used.

How would this work in Netscape/KDE? We just have the URN there, no other preference information...
